Before beginning, carefully inspect your Ledger device packaging. Ensure the box is sealed and has not been tampered with. A genuine Ledger hardware wallet comes in a sealed box and never includes pre-configured PIN codes or recovery phrases. If you notice anything unusual, do not proceed with the device.
Ledger Live is the official management software for your Ledger hardware wallet. Available on desktop and mobile devices, Ledger Live enables you to install cryptocurrency apps, add accounts, send and receive assets, and update your device firmware. Always download Ledger Live from official sources and avoid third-party versions.
Power on your Ledger device by pressing the appropriate buttons. You will be prompted to either set up a new device or restore one using an existing recovery phrase. To verify that you have written the recovery phrase correctly, your Ledger device will ask you to select the words in the right order. This step prevents errors and ensures you can restore your wallet if necessary.
Connect your Ledger device to your computer or smartphone and open Ledger Live. The application will verify that your device is genuine and help you finalize the setup. Follow the prompts to pair your device with Ledger Live and complete the initialization process.
